Organizational change can be defined as an attempt to modify the interpersonal and organizational structure and processes. Changes almost always focus on jobs, people, work groups, and the organization as a whole. In general, the changes seek to increase interpersonal and work effectiveness. The change process consists of several stages: recognizing the problem, properly diagnosing its cause, applying a certain strategy and evaluating the change. Organization development (OD) is a broad set of concepts, tools and techniques designed to implement long-term changes in organizations. Instructions Read and study chapter 1 of the textbook (Cummings, T. G., & Worley, C. G. (2019). Organization development & change (11.a ed.). Cengage)Think about an organizational change that you or someone in your family has personally experienced. Explain what the change consisted of. Was there resistance to change? Provide details. Analyze the situation. What could have been done to prevent or decrease resistance to change? Why did those affected show resistance? Write an essay of at least 1000 words with the requested information. Conclude your essay by discussing why it is important for a human resources professional to know about the roles and characteristics of organizational development. Include all references from the cited sources to support your work.
