I would be grateful if someone could explain to me how to use the chi-squared test to determine whether two sets of random variables generated using the random function on a computer are independent.

In other words, could you generate two sets of random numbers (of length, say, 50) and set out the calculations in detail to determine whether the random variables are independent using chi-squared.
