In the play Antigone by Sophocles, the King (Creon) gives orders that no man shall bury the body of Polyneices, one of Antigone's brothers. But the King (Creon) gives a proper burial to Antigone's other brother Eteocles. This puts Antigone in a very bad position because she has to choose whether to try and give her brother burial rites so he goes to heaven or stand by and do nothing which will send her brother to Hell (or the Greek equivalent). This places her between what we would call man's law (King Creon's Law) and God's Law (what she thinks God would want.) For this week's discussion topic, I want you to think of other points in history (American history or world history) where man's law was wrong and people had to violate man's law because God's law would tell them to do something different.

An example would be: In ancient Greece, women were considered property and had no real rights under the law. Man's Law, in this case, says women were property, but God's Law would have disagreed and said that all human beings should have had basic human rights.
