One of the assessments that you have to do is writing and submitting a term paper. The theme of the paper is 'Improving construction estimate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.' You should choose your own topic within the theme. To help you choosing a topic, you can develop a paper to answer the following questions/issues:

  • The important of improving construction estimator skills
  • How technology can improve cost estimating in the KSA?
  • Is there a need for national cost database? (ie similar to Rowlinson etc)
  • Should construction estimating be included in the undergraduate curriculum related to construction? (ie civil engineering, architecture, architectural engineering etc)

You should aim to write about 1500 word paper, using Arial 11 size font with 1.5 spacing. No cover page. Write your name and student ID on the top-right hand corner of the first page. Pages should be numbered.

You also have to do a 10-minute presentation of your paper in Week 14 & 15. The schedule for the presentation will be given in separate brief.
