Question

The purpose of this dissertation project is to explore and develop strategies to improve motivation and employee performance within the public sector of the Bahamas. Research indicates that administrative reform is of the utmost importance in both the public and private sector. Forson et al. (2021) discuss that motivation is a significant construct that represents the desire to fulfill a certain need and serves as a fundamental pillar in the workplace. However, effectively motivating employees possess a difficulty, as it significantly influences workplace satisfaction (Hassan, Zhang, Ahmad, & Liu 2021). Public sector motivation is of great concern in the Bahamas. Although there is a lack of research journal literature addressing this issue, numerous newspaper articles highlight ongoing frustration among civil servants, evidenced by frequent strikes and high job turnover rates. This research aims to identify the main factors influencing employee engagement and productivity, thereby addressing the pressing issue of how motivation levels can hinder the effectives and efficacy of public sector organizations.
