Question: Nutrition is the study of food and how it relates to the body. Healthy living is highly depending on good nutrition. The significance of nutrition to health and development cannot be over emphasized. It is crucial to maintain a healthy diet on a daily basic. There are a lot of processed food on the market that are available and more convenient to eat without cooking. These foods are high in sugar, sodium, fats and have extra calories. As a result of this people gravitate to buying these foods than choosing healthier food. It is far cheaper to purchase processed food than healthy foods. A poor diet is significantly related to the increase in obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, cancer, and stroke, among other illnesses (Patience, 2016). Some of these disease condition can lead to death all because of unhealthy eating, therefore nurses should take priority in educating and promoting health (CDC,2017a). Nutritional deficiency can be a result of the body not getting sufficient nourishment from vitamins and minerals, this poses the risk of getting disease conditions. The excessive nutrition can cause increase in weight which can affect the metabolism in the body that can lead to nutritional toxicities over a period. It is important for nurses to educate patients and families on the importance of healthy eating and the effect it can have on healthy living
