Part A:
In a folder called "Assignment Papers" on Moodle, you will find 8 papers that address various aspects of sustainability, environmental reporting, and corporate social responsibility. These 8 articles should be used as a guide. Students need to do their own research and select any six research articles. You can select a maximum of two articles from the given eight articles (though it is not a requirement) and search for at least four more peer reviewed articles. It is recommended you select all six articles on similar issues, but it is not a requirement.
Required
Prepare a critical review of each of your selected 6 papers. Guidelines as to how to approach a critical review are provided in the assignment papers. There is a specific approach to writing a critical review and must be adopted for your assignment.
The suggested length is 2000 words.
Part B:
You need to select a large mining or minerals company and download its latest sustainability report. Critically discuss the sustainability report. Suggested length is 1000-1500 words.
Further Information:
A critical review requires you to summarise and evaluate each journal article.
To be critical does not mean to criticise in a negative way. It requires you to question the given information and view put forth by the author(s). It requires you to evaluate the issues raised and also challenge the credibility of their argument. For example, is there credible evidence linked with the claims made?
Evaluation means presenting the strengths and weaknesses of the selected source.
Overall, writing a critical review involves analysis and evaluation.
