You will also do an internet search on testing bias with the particular population you chose to review.
First, read about "Group Comparisons and Issues" in the textbook (pg. 264-265) and read the resources above.
Then, identify one demographic group that you would like to research more about on this topic (e.g., Race/ethnicity, gender identity, age, socioeconomic status).
1. Of all the theories of intelligence discussed in the textbook (Sternberg, Gardner, Cattel-Horn), which do you feel is most accurate definition of intelligence and why? What is the advantage of defining intelligence according to this definition versus the other definitions?
2. Discuss the potential biases that exist in standardized testing for the specific group that you have selected to research for this board. Be sure to clearly identify the specific group you are discussing, and identify at least 2-3 biases that exist for this specific group and how they adversely impact that group. Provide the resource for the biases you've identified including author and web link.
3. For the specific group that you've selected, what are two potential changes/modifications that would more accurately assess/identify their level of achievement or intelligence? One of the potential changes you discuss should directly address stereotype threat. The second change can be around other topics (differential assessment, environmental intervention, etc.). How exactly would these modifications contribute a more accurate understanding of cognition?
