Instructions

1. This assignment is a group assignment. You are required to work in groups of 2-3 students per group. Groups will be decided by your lecturer.

2. Refer to the data that corresponds to your campus and group number. Data file is available on Moodle in Data for Group Assignment folder.

Example: If your group number is 2 from Melbourne campus your group must use the data file named MelGroup-2 to answer the relevant questions.

3. Submit your assignment online via Moodle submission link. Melbourne students: use Melbourne Campus Submission link. Sydney students: use Sydney Campus Submissions link.

4. You are required to submit two files with your answers showing workings:

A word file (You must attach Assignment Cover Sheet available on Moodle)

An excel file (You must complete the sheet named "Group details"). Only one group member is required to submit both files for the group.

5. You must provide in-text citation where relevant and a list of reference on your word file according to APA style. Please refer plagiarism policy for further details.

6. This assignment is worth 15% of the unit. (Total allocated marks for this assignment is 60 which will be scaled to 15%)

Instructions

a) Save the data file for your group and complete the sheet Group details.

b) Attach Assignment Cover Sheet to word file.

c) Identify the level of data measurement for the variables: Size, Displacement, Cylinders, Drive, Fuel Type, City MPG and Hwy MPG. Give reasons for your answer.

d) Construct the histogram for Cylinders.

e) Copy the histogram to your word file. Provide brief narrative for your histogram on your word file.

f) Calculate the relative frequencies and percent frequencies for the frequency distribution you constructed in part d). Show all your workings.

g) Copy the relative frequencies and percent frequencies to your word file.

h) Construct a Pivot Table using Size as row labels, Cylinders as column label and count of Cylinders as values.

i) Copy the Pivot Table to word file.

j) Calculate the following probabilities using the Pivot table you have created in part d) and comment on your answers.

i. The probability of a randomly selected car that has 4 cylinders.

ii. The probability of a randomly selected car which is small size.

iii. The probability of a randomly selected small car that has 4 cylinders.

k) Using data analysis option in Excel generate Descriptive Statistics table for City MPG.

l) Using data analysis option in Excel generate Descriptive Statistics table for Hwy MPG.

m) Copy Descriptive Statistics for City MPG and Hwy MPG to word file.

n) Comment on the means and standard deviations of City MPG and Hwy MPG.

o) An analyst is considering to construct the 95% confidence interval for the population mean of City MPG and Hwy MPG. Which distribution (standard normal distribution or t distribution) would you recommend to the analyst? Provide reasoning for your recommendation.

p) Calculate the margin of error for 95% confidence interval for the population mean of City MPG and Hwy MPG. Show all your workings.

q) Calculate and comment on the 95% confidence interval for the population mean of City MPG and Hwy MPG.

r) An analyst is interested in investigating the relationship, if any, between Displacement (Engine size in liters) and the fuel efficiency in city area and highways (City MPG and Hwy MPG). Calculate the sample covariance and correlation between:

i. Displacement and City MPG

ii. Displacement and Hwy MPG

s) Comment on the correlation between:

i. Displacement and City MPG

ii. Displacement and Hwy MPG

Attachment:- MelGroup-2.xlsx

You people are totally breathtaking. Let me take this opportunity to thank you all of you. It is a fantastic deed considering the brief timeframe given to you. I should say that it is justified regardless of the cash I paid for. Once again thank you all.
