Required to research, investigate, analyze, discuss, and present the report/project which is a high level evaluation of leadership traits that compares and contrasts the selected leaders. This is a comprehensive assessment of your two chosen leaders' style, effectiveness, and impact on the organization(s).

1. Leader Selection:

You are responsible for comparing the leadership abilities of two individuals.

Each student is required to select two (2) persons.

One person, you select, is to be a recognized leader from the first half of the 20th Century.

The second person, you select, is to be a recognized leader from the second half of the 20th Century and possibly going into the 21st Century. FOR EXAMPLE: Henry Ford and Bill Gates [these names are for example only].

2. Required Components:

Leader(s) as an individual

Research the traits, characteristics, and personality/personal characteristics of each person you selected and their impact on his effectiveness

Compare the traits, characteristics, and personality of each person

Discuss what situation made them a "leader" - were they born into the situation or made?

What did they contribute to society? What did they contribute to history?

What was each person's leadership style? How was it developed?

What type of power did each person use?

What were some of each person's prominent behaviors?

Prepare a personal SWOT for the leader - what are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that impacted their leadership effectiveness?

Leader(s)' Context

How were they viewed by others - their followers, their foes?

Who are their followers and how did the leader connect to the followers and what was the impact of the leader's influence?

What is the leader's ability and effectiveness in creating a vision, strategy and executing that plan for the organization and its impact?

Leader(s)' Situation

Discuss the impact/relevance of the time period on the 20th/21st century leaders and compare/contrast the impact on their styles (have the styles that are 'effective' changed over time?)

Leader(s)' Analysis

Clearly identify the issues that defined the leader's effectiveness?

Was/is the leader effective?

Are they a "good" leader - clearly identify the criteria that makes them "good"

Discuss the insights gained on leadership acquired by studying these selected leaders

Identify three leadership lessons you

Research Paper :

Write a research paper/report addressing the above issues. The paper should be between 12-15 pages of content, double-spaced, excluding the title pages and references. There should be approximately 10 pages of leader assessment content (approximately 5 pages per leader) and then the remaining pages should compare and contrast the two selected leaders

Format Requirements: Organize the paper by main headings: Introduction, Leader 1, Leader 2, Comparison and Contrast, Lessons Learned, and Conclusions. In the Leader 1 and Leader 2 sections, list subheadings: Leader(s) as Individual, Leader(s)' Context, Leader(s)' Situation, Leader(s)' Analysis. Use both in-text and end-of-paper references according to APA 6th edition reference guidelines. Include page numbers and save your document in Microsoft Word document format.
