For Week 8, the focus of this Collaboration Café changes from holistic health to the evaluation of instructional methods. The use of a computer-based learning activity presents a unique opportunity for evaluation and self-reflection, both common to the nurse educator's role.

In this Café the systemic evaluation plan will focus on the needs of the organization; the needs of the fictional learners within the organization; and lastly, your self-reflection regarding an instructional method using a computer-based learning activity. You are required to address each of the following topics.

Part 1: List your desired practice setting and follow it with your response Nurse professional development Academic program

Part 2: Using the following outcome established by an organization within your setting, evaluate if the computer-based learning activity was successful in demonstrating the following outcome. What is one strength of this instructional method? What is one weakness of this instructional method? Organizational outcome related to computer-based learning activity: After completing the software, the learner demonstrates the ability to apply the information within clinical decision-making events.

Part 3: Once the needs of an organization are evaluated, the educator turns to the needs of the learner. Please choose the following scenario that best aligns with your desired practice setting: For the nurse in professional development: the fictional learner is a new graduate who is finishing a 6-month mentoring program within the healthcare setting. Focusing on the typical learner for each practice setting: What knowledge would the learner most likely acquire from completing a computer-based learning activity with case study scenarios?
