Some organisations may find it a challenge to identify accurately waste generating processes and practices that have become entrenched in day-to-day operations. According to lean thinking principles, organisations must not only acknowledge the existence of multiple forms of waste in broad terms but also quantify waste in specific and measurable terms. Only then can organisations develop and execute a systematic plan for eliminating waste across the organisation.

Write an analysis of waste in your organisation or an organisation with which you are familiar. Identify 3–5 types of waste in the organisation and explain the effect of each type of waste in the organisation. Then, identify ways of measuring each type of waste and provide possible solutions for eliminating each type of waste.(500 words)
