You have read a WA bill and bill report (SB 5185). This bill report is the work of a nonpartisan policy analyst. It follows a prescribed format. Healthcare organizations may write their own, less formal, bill reports and use them internally.

For this assignment, assume that you are a healthcare administrator at a Washington State Hospital. Leadership at your hospital has heard rumors about House Bill 1983 but has not had time to learn more about it. You have been asked to review House Bill 1983 and provide: 1) a bill summary, and 2) a proposed amendment that the hospital might want to propose to the legislature through its state hospital association. HB 1983 is provided to you in this assignment.

Your submission should:

1) Summarize the bill in no more than.

o Do NOT copy or quote any part of the bill in your summary.

2) Identify a feasible concern that the hospital may have about the bill and suggest a possible amendment of the bill that would address this concern.

o In no more thans, explain what you think is the hospital's concern and describe how the bill could be amended to address this concern.

o Draft a brief amendment, following Washington State's format for adding or deleting language from a bill. (see A Guide to Reading a Legislative Measure ).
