The project requires you to use the statistical techniques learned in this class. You may make up data as you like rather than actually go out and collect real data. This is what I do in class. Let me give you several examples of what I mean.

The Case: I have just been hired as the admissions officer of a 4-year higher educational institution and trying to determine what kinds of students are likely to want to attend my institution.

I examine data collected by the school over the past ten years. The first thing I want to know is a little about the demographics of the students. I randomly sample 200 student records and find that 110 were women. Construct a 90% confidence interval for the proportion of students that were women. [You will work this out; you may use the printout from the CI proportion in the Statistics Template]

I also have data on the ages of the 200 students and find that the mean age was 26.5 years with a standard deviation of 6.3 years. Can one conclude, at the one percent significance level, that the population mean exceeds 25 years?

I also found that the average age of the women in the sample was 25.8 years and 27.4 years for the men. Can one conclude, at the one percent significance level, that the mean age for men exceeds that of women?

Also make up problems employing regression, ANOVA and Chi-square tests.

Also multiple regression model.
