Hypothesis test for population variance or standard deviation:

The cholesterol levels of adult males are approximately normally distributed with a mean of 225  mg/dL and a standard deviation of 22.3. Some researchers claim that the standard deviation of cholesterol levels of adult males is greater than 22.3 . A sample of 23 adult males' blood tests had a mean of 226 mg/dL and a standard deviation of 29.0 . Is there enough evidence to conclude, at the 0.05  level of significance, that the standard deviation of cholesterol levels of adult males is greater than 22.3?   Perform a one-tailed test.

Then fill in the table below.

1) The Null Hypothesis:   H0

2) The alternative Hypothesis:  H1

3) The type of test statistic:

4) The value of the test statistic:

5) The p-value:

6) Can we support the claim that the Standard deviation of cholesterol levels of adult males is greater than 22.3? Yes or NO?
