Managing Organisational Behaviour
Assignment - Leadership Vs Manager culture
Guidelines
Group Presentation:
Students will form small groups and develop presen-tations with their team around a nominated theory/ concept and organisation. Theories/concepts will be negotiated during classes in Week 2. The theories/con¬cepts that can be chosen should come from Modules D, E. and F of this subject. and can include (but are not limited to): organisation structure, organisation culture, teams, self-managed teams, conflict. change, and/or leadership.
Groups should develop an in-depth review of the nominated theory/concept in relation to a business example of their choice. Groups should include the following as a requirement of this assessment: an overview of the theory/concept, a detailed discus-sion on the strengths and weaknesses of the theory/ topic, how the theory/concept is seen in the chosen business example (including strengths and challenges of that theory/concept in the business), and recom¬mendations on how the business could improve their practices/operations using the theory/concept.
The grade for the group presentation will depend on the detail provided of the nominated theory/concept, your approach, organization, and content, as well as the accompanying materials (slides, poster, handouts, etc.).
You will be assessed as follows: Assessment will be based on both technical and content issues. Content issues, in short, are based on the quality of research, how interesting the presentation is. and if the presen¬tation showed a clear structure (introduction of topic, analysis of strengths/weaknesses, business evalua¬tion. recommendation, and conclusion/wrap-up).
Individual Reflection:
Working individual, students should submit an individ¬ual reflective essay accompanying their group presen¬tation. The aim of the reflective essay is to demon¬strate that you are able to reflect critically on your own learning, and group interactions in the lead up to the group presentation. This relates to your professional development and reflects back on the work you have undergone as part of your teams. You should produce a final (individual not team) written report about how you approached the analysis, and how you dealt with group work. Your writing should be clear and concise and be in your own words. Use headings to guide the reader and include tables or diagrams that make the case clearer. In a reflective essay, include the following:
• What you have learnt from the analysis.
• What you think will work and what will not work in organisations.
• Discuss new organisation behaviour skills and concepts learnt during the assignment.
• How you would respond to change and difficulties.
• What additional learning and development needs you may have to improve on in your report writing and communication skills.
All assessments should be for¬matted and referenced in APA 7th style.
