Assessment Case Study Analysis: Group Report

ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION

Each student will be required to join a group consisting of not more than four students and complete an analysis and write a negotiation plan as/for the management of the Philips Plant based on the provided scenario: Exercise 10: Universal Computer Company.

External Students may form their own groups or a mixed group with internal students. Upon the approval of unit coordinator, an external student (and only an external student) may elect to undertake the assignment individually i.e. without participation within a group. A non-theoretical, business situation only analysis will achieve, at best, an average to good grade.

High grades will require a thoughtful integration of key concepts and research evidence with case data/facts. Highly generalised reports will fail or achieve a low mark. Detail, data and specifics are the key. This assignment is group work and the assessment will be group based.

The report should have approx. 3000-3,500 words in length and should be typed; +-10% margin on the word limit is acceptable. A group dairy must also be provided as part of an appendix. The dairy must provide details and minutes of all group meeting (s), and needs to include the specific allocation of duties /tasks to group members.

The Question to be addressed in answering this assignment exercise is the following:

Question 1: How would you plan for this negotiation? What would your strategy and tactics include?

Question 2: Provide what your initial proposal would be. (obviously a final position cannot be completed as comprehended by the exercise as this can only be performed once the negotiation is actually undertaken).
