According to Spector, this training begins with a needs assessment. A needs assessment analyzes deficiencies at the organizational level, job level, and the individual level. Objectives or goals are then set in place to reduce these identified deficiencies. Training is then designed that will reduce or eliminate problem areas. The training is then delivered and evaluated. Training evaluation is done by conducting a research study to determine if the training was effective. The evaluation process includes 5 steps; Select criteria Choose a research design Choose measures Collect data Analyze data, interpret results A well designed and conducted evaluation study can provide valuable information about whether or not the training program is having its intended effects on individuals and the organization.
