Tip: What is a competency? Competency is a capability in a specific area. Competency is having the knowledge combined with the ability to apply that knowledge in a meaningful and productive manner.
For example: The competency to drive a car on a major highway at the maximum speed limit.
Another example: The competency to play soccer at a professional competitive level. This means having the knowledge of the game - the rules, all the playing techniques and strategies, and being able to apply all that very effectively in an actual game setting.
