Question: For the company you have been assigned, you will need to create a Natural Disaster Risk and Impact Assessment as detailed below. This assignment is worth 15% of your final grade.

Required Elements

• Executive Summary (7.5)

1. Provide a brief summary (approximately 2-3 paragraphs) of the key information from your entire report.

2. Executive summaries are designed to let your reader know everything you did in your paper just by reading these paragraphs. They are important to business writing and are challenging to write.

3. Finish your paper, then write the summary. Clearly state the purpose of the paper, summarize the business model of the firm, discuss the risk analysis and results, discuss the impact analysis and results, lastly state what your recommendations are.

• Summary of Business Model (15)

1. Explain how the organization creates value and generates revenue.

2. Describe the infrastructure and physical resources the organization relies upon to create value and generate revenue (e.g. key activities, resources, and distribution channels).

• Risk Analysis (22.5)

1. Describe where, in terms of geography, the organization operates.

2. Describe 3-5 natural disasters the organization is vulnerable to based on its geographic presence (e.g. flood, wildfire, biological plague, hurricane, etc.).

3. Explain which of these natural disasters are most likely to have a major impact.

4. Support your claim with evidence and provide probability estimates.

5. Include at least one chart or graph to support your argument.

• Impact Analysis (22.5)

1. Describe, in detail, how the natural disaster you chose as most likely in the risk analysis could impact the organization.

2. In the event that this natural disaster does occur, explain and estimate the impact of the most likely case scenario versus the worst case scenario for the organization.

3. Where possible, provide quantitative estimates of potential impact (e.g. "operations interrupted for an average of 72 hours").

• Recommendations for Business Continuity (22.5)

1. Describe specific steps the organization could take to mitigate the risk and/or impact of the natural disaster you focused on.

• Provide at least three recommendations and explain how each will reduce the risk and/or impact.

• Business Model Canvas Appendix (30)

1. List all components of the business model canvas in a report format with headings for each component.

2. Bullet points acceptable; however, the information provided should be substantial, complete and detailed with appropriate references.

Formatting Guidelines and Professionalism Standards (30)

• Arguments should demonstrate strong logic and be error-free.

1. Follow the Seven Cs of good communication.

2. Use precise language and cite supporting evidence.

• Bad: "Waffle House has a lot of locations in Georgia."

• Good: "Waffle House has 381 locations in Georgia, accounting for nearly a quarter of its total locations (i.e. 23.6%)."

3. Evidence should come from credible, defensible, and unbiased sources.

• Use Microsoft Word to create and edit document

1. Acceptable file extensions for submission: .doc, .docx

• Report should be approximately 7-10 pages excluding cover page, charts and graphs, references, and business model canvas appendix

• Use double spacing, 12-point font (Arial or Times New Roman), and 1" margins

• The report should include appropriate headings/subheadings and be organized as follows:

1. Cover Page

2. Executive Summary

3. Summary of Business Model

4. Risk Analysis

5. Impact Analysis

6. Recommendations for Business Continuity

7. References

8. Appendix: Business Model Canvas

• The cover page should include the title of the report, company name, your name and a date. Use APA guidelines for your cover page and report.

• References

1. In the body of your report, you will give a mention to your source and embed a link directly in the flow of text to it.

• Example: "According to Buzzfeed, my dog Dottie is a Hufflepuff."

• Pro-tip: In Microsoft Word, the keyboard shortcut to embed a hyperlink in Windows is CTRL+K (for Mac OS its ?+K)

2. At the end of your report, you will include a list of references

• Use APA format
