Introduction

The purpose of this exercise is to broaden students' knowledge in a particular area of WHS. It assesses demonstration of the understanding of the concepts, research skills and writing skills, in this case regarding the general duty of care imposed by Work Health and Safety law.

Essay Question

Lord Roben's recommended a general duty of care should be incorporated into WHS Law to enforce safety obligations in the workplace.  With reference to at least 3 different entities in the workplace describe how the general duty of care applies to these entities and how enforcing these obligations might achieve better workplace safety. 

Additional Requirements:

You are expected to provide FIVE different references for this assignment, at least ONE should be case law, at least ONE of legislation, at least ONE must be an academic article (e.g. from a journal) the other TWO are of your choice (e.g.: more journals, texts). Lack of research effort and quality will limit your grade significantly, a pass grade will not be given if these referencing/research requirements are not met. It is recommended that you do not provide more than EIGHT references.

You will reference your work as you discuss key points, using the Harvard UniSA style of referencing. Referencing is an essential part of the presentation of academic papers. If you are unsure how to reference it is suggested that you refer to the University guidelines. References to the study guide/lecture notes are not part of the quota and should NOT be used.

As this is an ESSAY you should include an introduction and a conclusion in this assignment.  It is recommended you review the feedback sheet to ensure you have covered all areas.
