Problem: Free trade policies aim to provide overall economic benefits, but the gains are not distributed equally. For example, when manufacturing jobs move overseas, low-skilled domestic workers can face unemployment and wage stagnation. The surge of immigrants can also put downward pressure on wages for low-skilled workers competing for the same jobs. Have you, your family, or others in your community experienced any negative impacts from free trade agreements like NAFTA or growing immigration? With the new USMCA deal, some industries may see job losses while others see gains. How might your community be affected?
