Your empire is a success, so you improve your factory so that it can now produce the following three flavors of ice cream (one at a time): chocolate, with a demand of 60 servings per minute, produced at 3.7 servings per second, at a cost of $1.05 per serving; strawberry, also with a demand of 60 servings per minute, produced at 3.5 serving per second, at a cost of $1.10 per serving; vanilla, with a demand of 100 servings per minute, produced at 4 serving per second, at a cost of $1 per serving. Cooling and production run up costs are as before (regardless of flavor). All demand must be fulfilled.
(a) Explain very briefly in words, how production will be handled.
(b) Verify that it is feasible to full all demand.
(c) How long is a total production cycle, and how much of each flavor should you produce per production cycle?
(d) You decide that it's probably a good idea to clean the equipment before changing from producing one flavor to the next. What is the maximum amount of time you can spend on each cleaning (assume you spend the same amount of time cleaning regardless of which flavor you just used).
(e) If you sell each serving of ice cream for $10 (regardless of flavor), what are your hourly profits?
