Write a paper explaining how LGBTQ marriages and communities were once considered deviant. What were the social norms and ideologies at play that made them deviant? (Focus on labeling theory, moral entrepreneurs, moral panic, and fear of gender theory by Judith Butler.)
How and why did this change? Use sociological concepts and theories for social movements. Ensure the response is lengthy and heavily detailed, with lots of in-depth explanation.
Guidelines:
1. Have a clear, strong thesis statement: A thesis statement articulates your main argument. It should state what your topic is, what your position is on the topic, and then tell the audience how the argument will be executed with the concepts and theories you are using. Remember, a good argument is narrow, specific, and defensible. It should be a sociological claim about which you must argue, using evidence and support, concepts, and/or theory.
2. Focus on one concept or a bundle of concepts: Do not try to overfill your paper with concepts and theories, or it will become a concept soup, and you will lose the depth of analysis for the sake of shallow mentions.
