Leaders must accept failure to be successful, and by being honest and open minded with the department the trust is gained allowing boundaries to be pushed. My director showed a great example of this when the organization took on a new electronic medical record system. As a director, she attended management level classes and felt uncomfortable afterwards and not confident in being able to be a “super user” for the department. She announced her fear in not being comfortable and then registered to attend more classes, but with the department this time to get an understanding of how everyone is doing during the trainings.
