Description:

This project will give you the opportunity to research and present the elements of a company's marketing strategy (how they use the 4 Ps and branding to gain a competitive advantage over competitive brands).

Your requirements:

Each member of the group will choose one of the brands and do the following. (My brand is Dove chocolate bar)

Research

1. The company: company name, location, size, other product lines.

2. The Brand/Product: type of product, determinewhere it is in the product life cycle (support your answer),identify the product features (may include packaging features), the product benefits, the brand mark and how it supports the positioning or gives personality to the product, the slogan and what mainmessage it communicates.

3. Price: What overall pricing strategy is being used- support your answer; what is the price/demand relationship (elasticity of demand); what pricing tactics do they use if any; what price adjustment strategies are most often used (1 or 2)

4. Distribution: How is the product distributed and why that type of channel based on the Type of Product.

5. Promotion: Locate an Advertisement for the brand and analyze the ad to determine how it supports the positioning (image) and how well it communicates features and benefits. Does it incorporate the brand mark and is a slogan used.What media are being used (ie. TV, Magazines, Radio, Web-site, Out-of-Home) and why. How intense is the advertising and connect this to where the product is in the life cycle to justify the level of advertising.
