Professional Experience - Fieldwork Placement Assessment Tasks
Based on the handbook, the actual student assessment requirements can be converted into the following assignment questions:
Assessment: Professional Experience 2 (Birth to 35 Months)
Task 1: Professional Learning Goals
Develop a Learning Agreement that identifies three (3) SMART professional learning goals for your placement.
For each goal:
Explain what you want to achieve.
Describe the activities you will undertake to achieve the goal.
Explain how progress will be monitored and assessed.
Reflect on your progress at the midpoint and conclusion of the placement. Professional growth and training and development activities may support this process.
Task 2: Focus Child Development Reports
Select three (3) focus children and prepare a developmental learning report for each child.
For each report:
a) Child Profile
Child pseudonym
Age
Interests
Strengths
b) Developmental Analysis
Describe the child's learning and developmental needs.
Identify developmental goals. Consider key principles of development when analysing learning progress and future needs.
c) Observation Records
Provide evidence from observations that demonstrate:
Learning progress
Emerging skills
Areas for further development
d) Follow-Up Planning
Recommend learning experiences that support the child's ongoing development.
e) Developmental Summary
Prepare a 500-word developmental summary evaluating the child's learning progress and future learning goals.
Task 3: Observation Portfolio
Conduct and document 15 observations during placement.
Requirements:
Five (5) observations for each focus child.
Use a variety of observation methods such as:
Learning stories
Running records
Anecdotal observations
Jottings
Analyse the observations.
Link findings to:
Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
Relevant academic literature
Child development theory
For each observation:
Describe what was observed.
Identify developmental learning outcomes.
Recommend a follow-up learning experience.
Task 4: Learning Experience Planning Portfolio
Design and implement five (5) learning experiences for small groups of children (3-5 children).
For each learning experience:

Task 5: Group Time Critical Reflection
Write a 300-word critical reflection based on a group learning experience.

Analyse how your practice demonstrated relevant standards including:

How has this experience influenced your future teaching practice? Reflection can assist with identifying further approaches to development in professional practice.
Task 6: Professional Practice Evaluation
Throughout placement, demonstrate professional competence by:
Meeting workplace expectations.
Following ethical and professional standards.
Collaborating with educators and families.
Demonstrating reflective practice.
Participating in feedback and supervision processes.
Evidence of achievement will be assessed through:
Mentor Teacher Mid-Placement Report.
Mentor Teacher Final Report.
Placement documentation.
Professional conduct throughout placement.
