What was my original motivation for starting my college education? My original motivation to start college was to pursue a career in radio, I used to think that people who got to talk on the radio about literally anything everyday was the best job of all time.
•How has my motivation changed, or not changed, as I progressed in college? What persons external to the college environment (e.g., family members, coworkers, supervisors, pastors, counselors, and/or friends) have helped and supported me? A couple years later my motivation changed. I was told by many sources (family, friends, coworkers, etc.) that radio was going to die out and no longer exist. After hearing this I decided that it was too "risky" to pursue a career in radio podcast.. I still haven't decided what i would like to do with my degree in communication
•How did they support me and what impact did their support have? My Mom and Dad both had a big impact on not only where I went to college but how much effort I put into college. My Dad had bad health so I wanted to graduate and make him proud one more time. Unfortunately he passed away before I could graduate but he still motivates me and I know he would be proud of the man I've become.
•What persons have posed challenges or barriers to me completing my college degree? My friends are the biggest barrier, any time I need to finish homework or study they are the ones telling me that I don't need to do it and that it's a waste of time. Battling criticisms from my friends has been a big challenge
•What challenges or barriers did I face? The biggest challenged I faced was managing time and the financial aid department. I have a full time job so figuring out when and how I can do my homework has been a struggle. Also the financial aid department made many obstacles for me, I had to pay out of pocket many times because they refused to give me funds for certain semesters
•How have I worked through these challenges? I was able to manage my time and save up enough money to get through school
•What rewards have I already experienced or anticipate experiencing after graduation? I think one of the rewards that I've already experienced is promotions. Receiving a promotion from having a degree and working hard is one of the best things ever
•In what ways have I changed and been transformed by my college experience? College has definitely made me more matured and a harder worker.
