Question 1- Example #1
The first example of General Motors' policies to hiring a diverse workforce is their internal program called GM Women. This program is described as "GM WOMEN assists women with professional development resources, establishing GM as a workplace of choice, creating leadership opportunities for women and impacting GM's ability to connect with the female consumer." This program lets these potential candidates understand how General Motors prioritizes gender diversity within their workforce. While showing to their potential employees they are not just hiring to fill a seat.
Question 2- Example #2
The second example is their partnership with the National Society of Black Engineers. This just like the past example shows their ability to show to their employees that they value diversity just as much as they value skilled and experienced workers. Understanding their need for diversity General Motors partners with the National Society of Black Engineers to reach out into spheres where normal job hiring newsletters would not reach. Allowing to reach the right people for the right job.
Question 3- Example #3
The last example is something not a lot of companies are able to do. Reach into international spheres for diversification among employee candidates. The Vietnamese Affinity Group (VietAG) is a group that is partnered with General Motors and they state themselves that this partnership "aims to provide employees with a means to connect with local Vietnamese communities to learn about Vietnamese heritage and to enhance their leadership skills." Diversification is one thing, but an untapped group of skilled and diverse employees is just beyond the oceans. This achieves multiple tactics described by Forbes to make a diverse workforce.
