A factory workeraccidentally releases a 175 kg cratethat was being held at rest at the top of a 3 m long ramp inclined at 38° to the horizontal. The coefficient ofkinetic friction between the crate and the ramp, and between thecrate and the horizontal factory floor, is 0.28. (Assume that the crate's kinetic energy doesnot change as it moves from the ramp onto the floor.)

(a) How fast is the crate moving as it reaches the bottom of the ramp?

m/s

(b) How far will it subsequently slide across the factory floor?

m

(c) Why don't the answers to (a) and (b) depend on the mass of the crate?
