Discussion Question-must use resources in the description
On March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake occurred off the coast of Japan. Scientists at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) analyzing seismic information and running sophisticated models were able to determine the likely impact area of the tsunami racing toward the shore. The information was used to alert residents in low-lying areas to evacuate to higher ground. Many more people in northeastern Japan would have lost their lives without the early detection and warning system used by the scientists.
Emergency managers must continually educate themselves about emerging technologies. For this Discussion, consider how emerging technologies, such as emergency alert systems and risk-modeling techniques, can be used to save lives and reduce damages.
With these thoughts in mind:
(a): Select one recent technological advancement in either of the following areas: early warning communication systems or early detection systems. Post a brief description of the system and the advancement you selected. Then explain at least two limitations associated with the system. Finally, explain two ways to address those limitations.
