For this discussion, I would like you to consider how religion and political power interact with each other in two locations of your choice. How can a religion be socially disruptive? Create community unity? In turn, how does the government affect religious practice?

Keep in mind that we are discussing this in a historical context, from 500 BCE to 1000 CE. Please do not refer to the formation of religions prior to to this date!
