Problem: History- The Meaning of Inequality and Liberty

Description:

We have read sections from some of the most influential intellectuals of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries including Jean Jacques Rousseau, John Stuart Mill, Friedreich Engels, and Herbert Spencer. All four of these intellectuals considered the meaning of liberty, inequality and belonging during a period of time in which social hierarchies, ideas about empire, and national belonging were in flux.

In a four to five page paper answer the following question using evidence from these four writers. Your answer should be formulated into a standard essay, that uses evidence from the text to support your argument that is laid out in your thesis. You do not need to cite all of these figures and you are free to choose which of the intellectual you will be working with, but you must use evidence from the texts to support your argument.
