One day, as you are walking into your home late at night, a teenage client who previously stayed at the shelter walks up to you. She states she has been staying at a friend's house and reports the mother kicked her out. She is hoping you will let her crash on your couch. You don't know how she discovered your home address. She does not look like her usual self. Her face is pale, her eyes are puffy, she is sweaty, shaking, and talking rapidly., You wonder if she is ill or under the influence of illicit substances. You know that your shelter intakes have closed for the night and that most of the other shelters have closed for the evening as well. You have a massive headache, and you can hear your dog barking because he needs to go outside.
