Case Study

A 25-year-old woman presented to the ED with a deep forehead laceration, signs of significant blood loss, and evidence of a concussion. She had fallen down a flight of stairs at home. She appeared intoxicated and could not provide any additional historical information because of altered mental status. She demanded to leave the ED without receiving any treatment or testing and attempted to walk out.
