The Hobbies Bridge Act authorizes the modification of certain bridges over navigable waters of the United States, as well as the allocation of the cost of such modifications between the United States and the owners of such bridges. This legislation is alternatively known as the Truman-Hobbs Act. The Hobbies Bridge Act applies to any bridge that is used and maintained to carry railroad traffic, railroad and highway traffic combined, or highway traffic only if a state, county, municipality, or other political subdivision owns or co-owns the bridge.
