Matthew MacArthur gave a few examples in the reading of objects whose meaning can only be felt in person--objects that emit an "aura" that is lost as a digital image. For example, although the Web site for the National Lynching Memorial is nice, I feel sure that beholding the 805 hanging steel monoliths (each representing a county where lynching has taken place, for a total of more than 4000 victims) would be an experience of another order. The artists and designers no doubt created an emotional experience that a small, flat digital reproduction can never capture.
