The healthcare delivery system has several components and characteristics that affect its delivery. The components consist of services, consumers, personnel and payment. Characteristics that affect deliver include system coordination, information flow, decision-making, quality control and communication between the medical providers and the patient. Other characteristics may include governance, financing, quality assurance and human resources. Factors may include demographic changes - which can be a result of a growing population and lead to an increase in the demand for medical services and providers. Another factor could be technological advances - the management and delivery of healthcare are changing due to telemedicine and electronic health records. The availability of competent workforce is very important to the delivery of healthcare. Factors that can alter the delivery of health care in the workforce can include aging, gender changes, regulations and part time workers.
