Case: You have been reading several literature reviews for exposure and familiarity. In the discussion for this module: week, list the three you have read within the first modules: weeks. Choose one of the dissertations you read and offer a brief analysis of the literature review in chapter 2. Writing your analysis will allow you to look closely at this literature review. You are about to begin your own literature review, so use this discussion to think deeply about the best approach to a review for chapter 2 of a dissertation.
Here are some questions to consider for your analysis. This analysis and response to the suggested questions must be brief. However, do not simply state "yes or no" to any of the analysis questions, but offer a concise response with example(s) from the literature review. For example, if you believe the author offered a strong biblical and theological foundation to his/her review and used appropriate authors/sources to do so, state concisely how he/she did this. This is a point of exposure and analysis designed to help you with your own literature review.
Suggested analysis questions:
Question 1: If there is a theological section, has the author addressed the most pertinent issue(s)?
Question 2: Did the author, in your opinion, rely upon the strongest biblical and theological writers for the topic?
Question 3: Has the author logically addressed the major variables in the study in the literature review?
Question 4: Can the reader understand the necessity of the study after reading the literature review?
Question 5: Has the author demonstrated existing connections between the variables in the study and the literature?
Question 6: Has the author demonstrated the "gap in literature" and how his/her research contributes to the existing literature by filling that gap?
Question 7: Is it clear to you as a reader how the literature shaped this study?
