Question

The biggest ethical decisions faced in the winter storm model is the individual vs the group and the good for the company vs the good for the employee. I would argue what is good for the company is the same as what is good for the employee. Happy employees are more productive. The catch in this scenario though is having the business shut down for a long amount of time could cause damage to both employee and bottom line. If the company loses to much money than they may have to close or down size their work force. This is the tight rope of company vs employee decisions management has to make. In the real world I have had to make these decisions before. However working for the military it is slightly different. There is no concern about the company losing money, but about the mission not getting complete. Sometimes that mission not being complete could cause physical harm to another service member who may be deployed or on a training mission. As a leader you have to try to view these decisions through every lens. The employees will put their own needs first, which most of would too, but.
