The act repealed certain statutes included in The Glass-Steagal Banking Act of 1933 having to do with the prohibition of certain types of affiliations between financial institutions. These repeals were very controversial and some have suggested led to many of the bank failures in 2008 as well as the phenomena of "To Big to Fail".
