During the recent camping trip, a curious junior engineering student (like yourself) noticed that water is being discharged from a high reservoir to a stream in the valley through a 0.3 m diameter plastic pipe. The difference in elevation between the free surface of the reservoir and the stream is about 70 m. This junior engineer envisions that this could serve as a source of hydro-electric power.

Generate suitable design information to produce maximum power from this site. In addition, assess the effect of power generation on the discharge rate of water to mimick the potential seasonal variation of water available in the reservoir. Comment on the water discharge rate for maximum power generation.
