Geek Model for Hiring

Geek hiring. This is an odd term but geek hiring can be used choose people for hire to demonstrate an almost 'geeky' love for a product or company. For example, Apple Computer once would put interviewees in a room to wait for the employment interview. In the same room was a new model of the Apple Computer. They would have a hidden camera and watch people in the room. If a person started to play with the computer and show much enjoyment doing so they would receive priority consideration for hiring. Are there such thing as people who 'live, eat and breath' a product or a company. Are these people the perfect employees for hire or are they possibly problematic?
