Process design is a fundamental issue for an Operations Manager to consider as it is the operations process that adds the value to the goods and services that an organisation provides (or seeks to provide)."

In your response you should consider and highlight the appropriate issues that may impact on an organisation due to the process design or redesign.

You should also consider issues such as layout choice, cycle time, bottlenecks etc., Candidates are reminded that this is an Operations Management assignment and as such the main thrust of the arguments contained therein should be rooted in Operations Management principles.

This piece of work will be assessed on analysis of operations management problems that arise in service and non-service sector. the synthesis of appropriate responses to Operations Management issues and the level of journal research that contextualises your response.

You are reminded that you are expected to reference all source material by the Harvard system, reports that do not do so, will not receive a mark that is greater than a third class mark

Assessment Criteria:

Your submissions should possess the following qualities:
- Submitted on time
- Comply with the word count limits
- Display evidence of understanding of relevant operations concepts, theories and issues
- Demonstrate critical application of the above
- Demonstrate collection and sound use of relevant information on organisation (e.g. objective rather than descriptive analysis which illuminates issues)
- Provide a coherent and structured argument
- Conclusions/recommendations should be well supported and substantiated
- Demonstrate, professional quality submission and presentation
