Leadership Assignment- Communication & Persuasion skills

This first part of the course focuses on professional ethics and leadership. Rules of professional conduct are not created in isolation but influenced by public debate. For this first portfolio assignment, you will take the role of a standard-setter and provide a written opinion in the form of a memo either in favor or against one of the statements in this handout.

In your essay, please first mention the statement you have chosen and indicate "in favor" or "against".

Please include all of the following elements of persuasion in your submission:

Ethos: make yourself credible by stating relevant personal experience related to the topic or interest groups you represent relevant to the topic or by referring to credible sources.
Pathos: conquer the heart by paying attention to word choice and including a relatable story.
Logos: conquer the mind by including facts and figures and a logical sequence of arguments.
