Suppose that in a sampling survey to estimate the population variance, the biased estimator (with n instead of n - 1 in the denominator of equation 1-3) was used instead of the unbiased one.

The sample size used was n = 100, and the estimate obtained was 1,287. Can you find the value of the unbiased estimate of the population variance?
