The figure below shows a thin rod, of length L = 1.9m and negligible mass, that can pivot about one end to rotate in a vertical circle. A heavy ball is attached to the other end. The rod is pulled aside an angle = 20° from the vertical and released.

a.)Using geometry, find a general equation which relates "h" to L and ?, where "h" is the vertical height of the pendulum ball, as measured above the bottom of the swing.

b.) Use your equation to find the initial height of the ball.

c.) What will be the speed of the ball at the lowest point of the swing?
