Gas Mileage of Cars
The table gives the number of miles per gallon in the city and on the highway for the coupes and compact cars reported to have the best gasoline mileage, according to autobytel.com. Make a scatterplot, using the city mileage as the predictor.
Find the equation of the regression line for predicting the number of miles per gallon (mpg) on the highway from the number of miles per gallon in the city. Use the equation to predict the highway mileage from a city mileage of 100 mpg.
Also find the coefficient of determination and explain what it means. Finally, state which car is an outlier; find the coefficient of determination without the outlier, and comment on it.
