Project -

For this project you will determine a question that you are interested in that can be answered with percentages of the adult population in Midwestern counties who have graduated college. We provided you with that data in a .csv file. Once you have that question you will take a sample of size thirty from the data and find the descriptive statistics and graphs that you think will help you answer your question. Then you will write a paper, in some standard formal format.

Few small suggestions -

I. Formulate a question and explain the decision process behind the choices made.

II. Use statistical methods to gather and analyze data.

Make sure you at least include a confidence interval that sheds some light on your question.

III. Determine the reasonableness of the answer and explain the limitations of your method.

Note that this talks about the limitations of the method, not just mistakes you made.

IV. Interpret your results in a context appropriate for a broader audience.

Go back to your original problem and to whom it might be interesting. Write a conclusion that explains to this person or organization what you found. Do not use any statistical terms.

For the given project we had a data with 371 rows and 3 columns i.e., perfect_temp, Countries_visited and Facebook_friends.

We had to take a sample of 30 samples n order to come up with the question of our own with respective to one of the columns.

So, we have picked, number of Facebook friends over other two columns:

  • Perfect temperature has no description as what it means.
  • Number of countries seems to be factors as they have discreet value.

Question for the analysis: How does count of Facebook friend help us to understand an user attribute?

You will be graded on the choices you make as well as how well you explain why you made these choices. Unlike in the first paper, I have not told you what to do. I have made a few small suggestions.

This paper must be typed, double-spaced, in some reasonable font (like Times New Roman or Garamond) and in some reasonable format (like .docx, .pdf, or .odt). You may not get help from anyone except the instructor on the mathematics you are doing in this paper. However, you may ask anyone, say, how to find a random sample or a mean as long as they do not do the work for you that ends up in this paper. You may also get anyone to proofread this for you and point out errors. They may not suggest how to fix it.
