Iron (3) oxide and aluminum powder form an extremely violent reaction (called Thermite) when burned together. This is an oxidation reduction reaction. One of the products formed is pure iron. Determine what element is getting oxidized. This reaction is used by the railroads to weld tracks together in remote locations to make the iron to fill the space between tracks. Once the reaction starts, it cannot be stopped and will melt anything in it's path - even the two rails together!
1. the oxygen is getting reduced
2. the iron is getting reduced
3. the aluminum is getting reduced
4. the iron is getting oxidized
5. the aluminum is getting oxidized
Given 25.00 mL of the unknown weak acid, 12 mL of NaOH solution was added to the unknown. Leave the unknown weak acid and NaOH concentrations as variables. The pH of the solution is 4.13. What is pKa for the acid
Briefly explain how you would alter the calibration curve technique to determine the concentration of glucose in a urine sample.
A 4.5 g nugget of gold absorbed 276 j of heat. What was the final temperature of the gold if the initial temperature was 25 OC ? The specific heat of gold is 0.129 j/g OC.
